Constrct.wmf (298230 bytes)[Back to Design Tour Guide]

This component provides housing and accommodation for the people in the new community. The population of the community is equal to the number of of main industry worker PLUS 5 dependents each.

The housing site is selected based on proximity to the main industry and proximity to water (for transport, water supply and for agriculture).  Preferred sites will be coastal and main river banks with deltas or flood plain for agriculture. These site are already selected.

The village design is a cluster type, construction materials will depend on locally abundant supply. The Isabela Coal houses for example are brick houses because the clay and coal are available at site. The responsibility to make the houses will be an extended tasks of the engineers working on the main industries. In the Isabela situation the set-up of a small brick factory as a portable industry can be justified.

Shops and community amenities will be the extended task of the portable industry component. Whenever practical, the community shops and amenities will be located with central administration in one building. Administration of the community will be an extended task of the Central Administrative component.
