North Davao Tailings operation consist of the Apokon Tailings and the Masara Tailings operated by one business unit managed from Tagum Town. The relevance of this operation in the whole Transmigration Project is that they will become models which can be used in similar tailings operation.

Apokon Tailings

The North Davao Tailings Project consist of the reprocessing of gold tailings from Millers of Apokon. This will recover mercury and noxious chemicals on the tailings. Recovered mercury can be re-used for gold recovery. The reprocessing will also recover left over gold values by using a more efficient gold recovery system compared to what is currently in use in Apokon.  There are 30 millers producing 200 tons of tailings per day.

Masara Tailing

Masara tailings are consist of a 30 year tailings from a gold milling operation that has already closed. The tailings are within the Masara Tribal community land settlement with the National government. Unlike Apokon, this is an old tailing in situ with viable recoverable gold values using an advance recovery system. The system used high pressure water called hydraulicking to win the soil which flows directly to a processing plant.
