Resources of Mindanao is Land and People

The real asset of Mindanao is Land and the abundance able workers. Land for large scale, high technology agriculture combined with forestry.

	A relevant recent development is land rights. There is an increasing role of the Local Government Units (LGU) and the Tribal communities in the use of logged over areas. The new direction for Mindanao is Agro-Industrial Projects in joint venture with the Local Government.
	The Local government will be involved in the Administration and Human Resources as an extension of the normal Local Government Role. The transmigration idea will provide a venue for a viable commercial partnership of the Local Government, the local residents, financial and technology group.

New direction to Agro-Industrial JV with LGU

Agreement in principle is reached to work with one LGU whereby the Local Government will contribute the use of 30,000 hectares and 10,000 residents as the Joint Venture labor pool. The Project is reforestation with high growth wood variety that can be harvested in 7-10 years. With the suitable weather in Mindanao (being a natural tropical forest) it is estimated that they can be harvested earlier. Since portions of the land resource are arable, they can be converted to more useful agricultural use.

A series of LGU join ventures will make it feasible to construct a central wood processing facility before the products are exported. The agricultural portion can justify the viability of setting up a central abattoir, meat processing, breeding facility, bulk shipping, milk processing operation before they are shipped to Metropolitan markets or exported.
