The Bommag geothermal fumerols are natural steam geysers shooting up to 50 meters. They are under the Balatoque Tribal community. The Balatoque Tribal Elders are co-signatories of the Peace Pack agreement or "Buddung". The geothermal resource has a potential of 2 x 30MW power plant. The production cost per kilowatt using geothermal is estimated 1/3 the cost traditional power generation using oil or coal fuel. The electricity produced can be used by the local community and excess can be used to run small gold mining and milling operations in the area. |
